This project focuses on the material itself and allows it to shine through its interaction with light. The creation process was led by material experimentation, exploring its qualities and limitations and then challenging them to discover what is achievable.
Noxira was initially inspired by fractal patterns in nature, which led me to explore how an object can have a naturalistic and fluid look despite being made from a usually rigid, non-organic material. The qualities of the plastic are literally stretched, using PCL as a material, which allows to be molded and elongated when heated. The texture is achieved using a mold to refer back to the initial inspiration but the heating and melting process leaves space for surprises as nature often does. The lamp has no inner structure which makes it light and portable, but the holes in certain places make it more suitable for indoor use.
