Who is she?

A kid at heart and explorer by nature, Kalina is an object designer whose practice is bred by play and experimentation, guided by a material-driven, hands-on approach. She produces works which strive to challenge conventions, invite for interaction and “brighten the room”, expressing her belief that everyday objects must be fun and invoke a sense of wonder. Her biggest inspirations are the body as a form, a moving and feeling entity, alongside the relationship between natural formations and man-made materiality. Recurring themes in Kalina’s work are those of belonging and memory, where she often finds herself going back in time and embodying a child’s perspective when making and creating, infusing her work with honesty and curiosity.

How does she work?

Kalina approaches projects in many ways, but always with a lot of curiosity. You can often find her experimenting with different mediums and techniques in search of something fascinating. Other times, inspiration springs from her internal experiences, beliefs, and sense of urgency to share them through design. She researches through mind-mapping, hands-on prototyping, tinkering, and contextual exploration to make informed connections.
